ねらいと目標 This course addresses how education might promote the idea and action of global citizenship, which is necessary to build a peaceful and sustainable culture both in local and international contexts. Based on global understanding and cooperation and multicultural symbiosis, this course examines possibilities of how the Japanese educational system can contribute to that of other nations to sustain and improve their prosperity and well-being.  
内容 In order to look at the above issues from diverse perspectives, this course takes the omnibus teaching style. In some lectures, the active learning method may be used to help students’ understanding and to widen and deepen the class discussions.  
テキスト No specific textbooks are required. Necessary materials may be provided in each class. 
参考文献 No specific references are required. They may be introduced in each class, if any.  
成績評価方法 Reflection papers: 70% (A short essay is required at the end of each class.)
Group presentation and discussion: 30% (Details will be given later during the course.) 
授業スケジュール(展開計画) This course will totally explore the following topics by the omnibus style - 9 instructors.
The name of instructors (no.2-13) is listed alphabetically as a matter of convenience; therefore, the exact order of every lecture/instructor will be introduced in the first session of orientation (no.1)

1・Course Orientation - the purpose of class, the outline of entire class, etc.
2【ARISAWA, Shino】
We will discuss the issues of cultural appropriation in performing arts such as music and dance, which often play important roles in the construction of national and ethnic identity in the context of globalisation.
3【DOHZONO, Ikumi】
We will read and discuss a series of contemporary papers taken from the primary literature on various topics in ecology, evolutionary biology, and conservation biology.
4【HARADA, Kazuo】
Recent advances in the biological sciences and technology and how they may change our understanding of human beings and everyday life will be discussed.
5Preparation for group presentation (TBA)
6【KONISHI, Kodai】
Understanding child rearing under global circumstances anthropologically and clarifying the fundamental problem of how human ability is expanded based on field survey.
7【SATO, Kiminori】
Teaching exercises about protecting materials from external exposure suitable for the classroom is considered. Both the lecture and experiment are given on the three principles of protection from external exposure: 1. protection by distance,
2. protection by time, and3. protection by shielding, in addition to the fundamentals of radiation and radiation measurements.
8【SUGA, Miya】
This class discusses how transpacific immigration/migration history has been/is entangled with the recent educational issues of minority groups in Japan.

This lecture explains the mechanisms of global environmental issues, such as global warming, and the interactions between the issues and environmental factors in global scale.
11【KOMORI, Shin-ichi】
The class addresses the core concept of "Gaia Education," certificated educational program by UNESCO, which focuses on sustainable society in the educational context.
12【SATO, Tamaki】
Due to the wide variety and long timescale of natural phenomena observed on the earth, understanding of its history requires accumulation of knowledge of different parts of the planet at different times. In this class, we lean how information from different parts/ages of the earth contributed to our current understanding.
